Recent BC graduate dies in car accident

A memorial service will be held on Monday, Nov. 18, at 5 p.m. in St. Mary's Chapel for Emily Murphy, BC '02, who died in a car accident while visiting some friends in the Washington, DC area on Saturday, Nov. 2.

A native of Warrington, PA, Murphy graduated cum laude in May, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in biology. She was currently pursuing a graduate degree in forensic science at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA.

During her time at BC, Murphy studied abroad at the University of Glasgow in Scotland in her junior year. She spent her summers working for Johnson & Johnson in their chemistry lab and had hoped to intern next summer with the FBI in Quantico, VA.

Emily was born on July 14, 1980 in Doylestown, PA. She was the daughter of Robert and Sherrie Murphy, and is survived by her parents, her older brother Charles, and her older sister Elizabeth, who remember her for her quick wit and great sense of humor.

Relatives and friends attended a memorial service celebrating Emily's life at on Nov. 9, at Doylestown Presbyterian Church, 127 E. Court St., Doylestown, PA.

The family requests that donations in Emily's memory be made to Friends of the Library Center, 150 S. Pine St., Doylestown, PA 18901, or to the Aark Wildlife Rehabilitation and Education Center, 107 Twining Bridge Road, Newtown, PA 18940.
